These wines are some of our current favorites and are just waiting to be shared over some good company!
Domaine Les Pins 'Le Clos' Cab Franc, Bourgueil, France '14 This 100% Cabernet Franc is extraordinarily complex. Up front there is a dominant bell pepper laced with bright, candied maraschino cherry. The finish is developed by a serious yet subtle crushed black pepper. This wine is really breathtaking for the price $29 to enjoy a bottle with company, and $10 less for retail to-go.
Nikolaihof-Grüner Veltliner, Wachau, Austria '14
Quality Grüner Veltliner has a sense of place--and this Nikolaihof Hefeabzug is no exception. Wet rock, white flowers, and lime zest explode on the bouquet. Ripe green apple and fresh lemon custard are bound together by a screaming acidity. The mid-palate is a wonderful segue to ample amounts of minerality and taut nuttiness. This wine is a wonderful example of a well made Grüner. $37 to enjoy a bottle at the shop and as always $10 less to grab one to-go.
Feudo Maccari-Nero D'Avola, Terre Siciliane, Italy '14
This wine is a beautiful display of classic Italian structure that exhibits the complexity and rigid tannin structure that Nero D'Avola can encompass. Plums and dried black cherries lead the way, while racy acidity gives elegant structure to the mid-palate. Tobacco and fresh leather come together in the finish and leave a long lasting impression. It is currently available for $28 per bottle at the shop, and as always, a $10 discount is applied to retail wines.
